Golf course irrigation work

Despite a spell of heavy rain slowing ground conditions, good progress continues across the course as we move forward with our irrigation upgrade. While the weather has meant contractors can’t safely work in certain areas at the moment, the team has been making excellent use of available windows and focusing on detailed finishing work to keep the project moving in the right direction.

What’s Been Happening On Site

Over recent days, the team has been out across the course carrying out important housekeeping work on newly installed sprinklers. This includes:

Stone and debris removal around sprinkler heads and valve boxes

Lifting, levelling and cutting heads where required

Hand-tamping areas that need attention while we wait for conditions suitable for rolling

All sprinkler nozzles, pressures and arcs have now been set, meaning the system is fully ready to go as soon as it’s needed. What remains in most areas is a final roll, alongside some light forking and turf lifting where required — all very much dependent on the ground drying out.

Current Snagging Items (Weather Dependent)

As with any major project, there are a few items scheduled to be completed once conditions allow:

Removal of all old sprinkler heads from Greens 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10

Re-filling the trench line on the 4th fairway following the 180mm mainline installation

Ongoing rolling of mainline and lateral pipework across the site

These will be addressed as soon as it’s safe and practical to do so, unless any area presents a health and safety concern that needs earlier attention.

What’s Next?

The intention is to complete the installation at the 16th Green this week, and—subject to suitable ground conditions—move straight on to the 3rd Green. Elsewhere, we’ve continued installing mainline pipework along the 1st and 18th holes, working away from the main water main, the final routing of which is still being confirmed.

Looking Ahead

While the weather may be dictating the pace at times, the project remains in great shape. The attention to detail now will pay dividends later, and we’re confident members will see the benefits of this upgrade for many years to come. Thank you, as always, for your patience and support — we’ll continue to keep you updated as work progresses.
