Operations Director's Update

Well, here we are – Harleyford Golf Club's 30th Anniversary Week has finally arrived!

I hope you've all made plans to be part of the celebrations over the coming days. If you can only make one event, I'd encourage as many members as possible to join us on Sunday from 3.00pm for our main anniversary celebrations and 30th Anniversary Prize Presentation. Whether you've been a member for 30 years or just 30 days, it promises to be a fantastic afternoon celebrating everything that makes Harleyford Golf Club so special.

Last weekend's Club Championships were another tremendous success, with a record number of entrants taking part in our flagship competition. It was fantastic to see so many members competing, and the standard of golf was exceptional throughout the weekend. This increased demand has created a very welcome challenge and, as a result, from next year we will be holding the Men's and Women's Club Championships on separate weekends. This will allow even more members the opportunity to compete over both days and make the most of the event.

The full list of winners appears later in this newsletter, but congratulations once again to David Bushnell and Lisa Holloway, our 2026 Men's and Women's Club Champions.

Out on the course, the greenkeeping team has recently completed the installation of the new tee pots on every hole. We encourage everyone to use these for broken tees to help keep our teeing grounds looking their best. They also serve another important purpose, as they are now the official measured course markers, indicating the registered length of each hole ahead of our next course re-rating in 2027.

Our £1.2 million irrigation project is now almost complete, with just one final piece of equipment due to be installed over the next couple of weeks. This final transfer pump will significantly increase the volume of water being delivered from the reservoir to the golf course, allowing the system to operate at its full potential. Even so, I hope you've already noticed the remarkable difference the new irrigation system has made to course conditions during what has already been a very dry summer.

Don't forget that we will be officially opening the new irrigation system on Tuesday, 14th July 2026. We'd love to see as many members there as possible, so please click here to book your place.

The more observant amongst you may also have spotted the new water refill station beside the 14th tee. It is currently awaiting final commissioning but should be fully operational before the next spell of hot weather, giving everyone another opportunity to stay hydrated during their round.

Finally, I hope to see as many of you as possible throughout our 30th Anniversary celebrations this week, and especially on Sunday afternoon as we celebrate this incredible milestone together.

Have a fantastic week, enjoy the celebrations, and thank you, as always, for your continued support of Harleyford Golf Club.
