Harleyford Golf Club Celebrates 30 Years with Spectacular Anniversary Event

Harleyford 30th Anniversary

On Sunday 5th July, Harleyford Golf Club marked a truly special milestone as members came together to celebrate the Club's 30th Anniversary. More than just a golf competition, the day was a celebration of three decades of friendship, investment and memorable moments that have helped shape Harleyford into one of Buckinghamshire's leading golf clubs.

The celebrations began early, with members arriving to enjoy coffee and bacon rolls before gathering for a welcome from Head Professional Jon Jones. With 128 golfers taking to the course for a shotgun start, there was a real sense of excitement as everyone prepared to be part of an occasion that will be remembered for many years to come.

The Valencia Greensomes format proved the perfect choice for the day, encouraging teamwork, laughter and friendly competition. Whether members had been part of Harleyford since its earliest days or had only recently joined, the atmosphere reflected everything that makes the Club special—a shared passion for golf and a genuine sense of community.

Throughout the course, members enjoyed refreshments provided by a number of valued supporters. Rebellion Brewery kept players refreshed on the 3rd hole, David Dyas welcomed golfers on the 6th, the Halfway House served delicious pulled pork baps, Bearded Cow Gin provided a welcome stop on the 14th, while the Madri Bar on the 18th ensured everyone finished their round in style.

The golf itself provided plenty of entertainment. Alongside the main competition, members enjoyed a series of on-course challenges including Beat the Pro, Nearest the Pin, Nearest the Pin in Two and the ever-popular Hole-in-One Challenge, adding extra excitement throughout the day.

Congratulations go to Maeve Kelly and Lesley James, who produced an outstanding performance to win the 30th Anniversary Valencia Greensomes with an excellent score of 46 points.

As the final groups returned to the clubhouse, the celebrations continued well into the afternoon. Around 160 members gathered outside on the terrace for the prize presentation, creating a wonderful atmosphere as players reflected on the day and shared memories of Harleyford over the last three decades.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was seeing so many founding members and long-standing supporters together. Their loyalty has helped build Harleyford into the thriving club it is today, and the anniversary provided the perfect opportunity to recognise the people who have been part of that journey from the very beginning.

There was also widespread praise for the condition of the golf course. Numerous members commented that the course was in the best condition they had seen since Harleyford opened in 1996—a tremendous compliment to Golf Course Manager Andrew McEvoy and his greenkeeping team following months of investment and hard work.

The anniversary celebrations also showcased Harleyford's continued commitment to investing in the future. Recent developments, including the completion of the Club's £1.2 million irrigation project, ongoing course improvements and investment in facilities, ensure that Harleyford continues to evolve while remaining true to the values that have made it such a popular destination for golfers.

Events like these remind us that Harleyford is about far more than golf. It is about friendships formed over many years, shared experiences, volunteers who give their time to the Club, dedicated staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes, and members who continue to support Harleyford year after year.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who attended, our generous sponsors, volunteers and staff who helped make the day such a success. It was a fitting celebration of everything Harleyford Golf Club has achieved over the past 30 years.

Here's to the next chapter in Harleyford's story—and to many more years of fantastic golf, lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories.
