Straight back to it after Christmas, the irrigation team have returned to site and have been preparing equipment ready to continue the installation across the golf course.

Unfortunately, due to the snowy and frozen conditions we’ve experienced over the past few days, progress has had to pause in certain areas. Where the ground is frozen to a depth of more than 10 inches, installation simply isn’t possible.

While the course is currently closed — which would normally provide ideal conditions for this type of work — continuing to plough through frozen ground would cause cracking and potential damage, so the decision has been made to wait until conditions improve.

As soon as the contractors are able to resume, they will begin removing the old sprinkler heads from the holes that have already been installed, as well as starting full installation work on the 7th hole.

This marks an exciting start to 2026 — 30 years since the club opened, and the very first year of fairway irrigation at Harleyford Golf Club.
