SUMMER COURSE MAINTENANCE UPDATE

Firstly, I would like to thank everyone for their patience while the Greenkeeping Team carried out our summer course maintenance programme.

I am pleased to confirm that all the planned work on the greens was completed successfully. This included solid tining to a depth of approximately nine inches, coring, overseeding with Cobra Nova pure bent grass, topdressing and deep sand injection to around eight inches.

The team also managed to get ahead of schedule and complete tining across all the approaches and surrounds. This was an added bonus and means these important areas will also benefit from improved aeration, reduced compaction and stronger root development.

Course maintenance is always a balancing act. We want to minimise disruption to members, particularly during the main golfing season, while ensuring we carry out the essential work needed to keep our playing surfaces healthy and performing consistently throughout the year.

The Greenkeeping Team worked exceptionally hard to complete a significant programme of work within a relatively short window, and I am extremely pleased with what they achieved.

Our attention now turns firmly to recovery. We will continue to monitor the greens closely, adjusting our mowing, feeding and watering programmes as required to encourage the quickest and strongest possible recovery. Members should see the surfaces continue to improve over the coming days as they settle and the new seed begins to establish.
