My Greenkeeping Journey

Since joining Harleyford Golf Club in July 2021, I have seen a huge amount of change and progress across the course. From major tree work and ditch installations, to bunker renovations and now the exciting development of a new irrigation system, it has been an incredible time to be part of the greenkeeping team.
I started my career at Harleyford as an Assistant Greenkeeper with no previous experience, but from the beginning I have been committed to learning, developing my skills, and striving for excellence in turf care. During my time at the club, I have completed my Level 2 qualification in Greenkeeping and I am currently working towards my Level 3 qualification in Turf Management. Alongside this, I have also achieved all the required spraying certifications, including PA1, PA2, and PA6.
A key part of my progression has been the opportunities Harleyford has given me to gain experience beyond the club. Through volunteering, I have been fortunate to support course teams preparing for elite-level competitions at some of the most prestigious venues in the world. These have included Pebble Beach Golf Links during the AT&T Pro-Am, North Hants Golf Club for Open Qualifying, JCB Country Club for the LIV Golf Tour, and Wentworth Club during the BMW Championship. Working at these venues provided invaluable exposure to championship standards, and I have been able to bring back new ideas and methods to help further improve Harleyford.

Most recently, I attended BTME, hosted by BIGGA, where I took part in seminars, conferences, and industry sessions focused on turf care and the future of greenkeeping. Events like this are vital in keeping up with the latest innovations and techniques within the profession.

Looking ahead, my next milestones include completing my Level 3 qualification, aiming for nomination as TORO Greenkeeper of the Year 2026/27, and hopefully receiving the opportunity to attend the 2027 US Open at Pebble Beach. These ambitions reflect my dedication to the industry and my continued commitment to delivering the best possible standards for Harleyford Golf Club and its members.
I am extremely grateful for the support I have received so far, and I look forward to continuing my journey in greenkeeping and contributing to the future development of the course.
