Women in Golf Charter

Harleyford Golf Club is proud to announce that we are now an official signatory of the Women in Golf Charter — a national initiative supported by The R&A and England Golf, designed to create a more inclusive, welcoming and supportive culture for women and girls within the sport.

This marks an important milestone for the Club and reflects our ongoing commitment to growing the game for everyone.

The Women in Golf Charter aims to increase the number of women and girls playing golf and working within the industry, while promoting positive change at every level of the game — from participation and membership through to leadership, governance and recruitment. By signing the Charter, Harleyford has formally committed to clear objectives and targets that will help us create meaningful, long-term progress.

This achievement is thanks to the hard work and dedication of Diane Elliott (Women’s Captain 2026/27) and Sarah in the office, who worked tirelessly to ensure Harleyford’s commitments were carefully developed, submitted and successfully recognised.

In a letter to the Club, Jeremy Tomlinson, CEO of England Golf, praised Harleyford’s commitments and highlighted that the Club will be “inspiring other clubs from across the country”by working towards greater inclusion at all levels — from governance and recruitment through to retention and development.

Becoming a signatory is not just a badge of honour; it represents a clear statement of intent. Harleyford Golf Club is committed to building an environment where women and girls feel encouraged, supported and valued — whether they are picking up a club for the first time, returning to the game, competing at club level or contributing to the future direction of the Club.

This is a brilliant step forward for Harleyford and reflects our continued ambition to develop the Club, strengthen our community and grow the game for future generations.

We look forward to sharing further updates as we continue this journey.
