Founding Members Celebrate Harleyford's Heritage in Special Founders' Competition

As part of Harleyford Golf Club's 30th Anniversary celebrations, the Club was delighted to host a very special Founders' Competition dedicated to the members who have been with Harleyford since the very beginning.

Held on Friday 3rd July, the event welcomed members who joined the Club during 1995 and 1996, before Harleyford officially opened for play. It provided an opportunity not only to enjoy a day of golf, but also to celebrate the people whose loyalty, support and passion helped establish the Club during its formative years.

Twenty-one founding members took part, enjoying excellent weather and a course presented in outstanding condition. Throughout the day there was a real sense of nostalgia, with stories shared about Harleyford's early days, memorable competitions and friendships that have lasted for three decades.

The golf itself was highly competitive, with Christopher Snow producing an excellent round of 42 Stableford points to claim victory. Jane Burns finished a close second with an impressive 40 points, ensuring the competition remained closely contested until the final scores were returned.

While the competition produced worthy winners, the real success of the day was the opportunity to recognise Harleyford's founding members and thank them for everything they have contributed over the past 30 years.

Much has changed since the Club first welcomed members in the mid-1990s. Significant investment has transformed the golf course and facilities, membership has grown considerably and Harleyford has established itself as one of the county's premier golfing venues. Yet the values that attracted those first members remain exactly the same—a welcoming atmosphere, an exceptional golf course and a strong sense of community.

Many of those who played in the Founders' Competition have witnessed every stage of Harleyford's development. From the early years through to today's extensive programme of course improvements and investment, they have helped shape the Club into what it has become.

The event formed an important part of the wider anniversary celebrations and perfectly demonstrated the respect Harleyford has for its history while continuing to look towards the future.
