Course Update – Summer Maintenance

The prolonged spell of hot, dry weather continues to present a real challenge, but our Greenkeeping Team are working tirelessly to keep Harleyford in the best possible condition.

Our new irrigation system is already making a significant difference, allowing us to prioritise watering on the greens, tees and approaches. Every litre of water is being carefully managed to keep these key playing surfaces as healthy, green and lush as possible. Whilst we'd all welcome some sustained rainfall, there is unfortunately very little in the forecast, making the irrigation system and the team's daily attention more important than ever.

Alongside irrigation, the team continue with an intensive maintenance programme, including edging all 980 sprinklers across the course, hand watering dry areas where overnight winds have affected coverage, applying a nutrient-rich fertiliser programme to tees and green surrounds, and maintaining bunker sand levels and presentation.

Whilst the new irrigation system has transformed our ability to care for the course, nothing can replace natural rainfall. The team continue to carefully balance water usage while protecting the long-term health of the golf course, ensuring Harleyford continues to provide the best possible playing conditions throughout the summer.
