The past fortnight has been an incredibly busy and exciting period at Harleyford, with a packed calendar of competitions, social events and course improvements continuing to showcase everything that makes the club so special.
Women’s Open Another Great Success
We were delighted to host another successful Women’s Open, welcoming 72 ladies from clubs across the region for what proved to be a fantastic day both on and off the course.
A huge thank you must go to all the volunteers from the Harleyford Women’s Section whose hard work helped ensure the event ran so smoothly. From baking cakes to running drinks stations around the course, their efforts once again created the warm and welcoming atmosphere that has made the Women’s Open such a popular fixture in many clubs’ calendars.
The event continues to go from strength to strength, and that is entirely down to the dedication and enthusiasm of everyone involved.
Jubilee Cup Kicks Off Major Season
Saturday 25th April saw the first major competition of the season take place, as a strong field gathered for the Jubilee Cup.
Played in glorious spring weather, the competition provided the perfect way to launch the club’s major season, with excellent scoring and a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day.
Mixed Match Victory Over Beaconsfield
The following day brought more success for Harleyford as our mixed team recorded an excellent 5–1 home victory against Beaconsfield in the first mixed match of the season.
Congratulations to everyone involved on a superb team performance and a brilliant start to the campaign.
Improvements Continue on the 17th Hole
Work on the ongoing improvements to the 17th hole has also continued in recent weeks, including the planting of a beautiful Irish Oak in memory of much-loved past Women’s Captain, Brenda Hanna.
The tree was kindly donated by Brenda’s family and provides a lasting tribute in recognition of her contribution to the club.
Scratch Open Showcases Top Talent
On Friday 1st May, Harleyford hosted the Scratch Open with a strong field of 63 competitors made up of both members and visitors.
It proved to be another excellent day of golf, and we were especially proud to see BCA Academy member Olly Hunt finish in third place with an impressive gross score of 149.
Congratulations also go to winner Calum Miller, who produced a fantastic gross total of 147 to claim victory.
The result was also a proud moment for Harleyford Head Professional Jon Jones, who coaches both Olly and Calum.
New Bar Menu Now Available
Away from the golf course, this week also saw the launch of our brand-new bar menu.
Head Chef Russell has introduced a number of exciting new dishes, and we hope members have already had the opportunity to sample some of the additions. We look forward to hearing your feedback over the coming weeks.
