Captain’s Charity Day Raises £2,600 for Sport in Mind

Harleyford Golf Club’s Captain’s Charity Day proved to be a fantastic celebration of golf, friendship and community, while raising approximately £2,600 for Sport in Mind.
On Saturday 19th September, a tremendous field of 104 members took to the course in support of Women’s Captain Diane Elliott and Men’s Captain Paul Clark’s chosen charity.
There was plenty of competitive golf along the way, with Gordon Harris, Tom Hine, Darren Miller and Michael Sale taking first place with an excellent 94 points. The winning team received a four-ball voucher for Beaconsfield Golf Club, along with Harleyford caps signed by Tyrrell Hatton.
Second place went to James Lewis, David Counsell, Luke Burkey and Harrison Allen with 90 points, whileRob Harold, David Bushnell, Cameron Sturrock and Jack Evans finished third with 89 points.
Away from the golf, the generosity continued with our silent auction raising an impressive £700. The prizes included a flight over Harleyford with Peter Simmonds, won by Paula Reason; a three-ball at Bearwood Lakes, kindly donated by David Dyas and won by Malcolm John; and a three-ball at the Royal Household Golf Club, won by Matt Hopper.
Together with the event entry fees and fundraising throughout the day, approximately £2,600 was raised for Sport in Mind.
Sport in Mind is a mental health charity that uses sport and physical activity to improve the lives of people experiencing mental health problems. Its completely free sport and physical activity sessions have supported more than 70,000 people, helping individuals become more active, connected and involved within their communities.
The money raised through Captain’s Charity Day will help Sport in Mind continue this important work and support even more people within our local communities.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who played, donated prizes, bid in the silent auction, supported the fundraising or helped behind the scenes to make the day such a success.#
Women’s Captain Diane Elliott and Men’s Captain Paul Clark added:
“We really appreciate the Club’s enthusiastic and generous support for these events and for our chosen charity.”
It was another memorable day at Harleyford and a wonderful example of what can be achieved when our members come together for a great cause.
