BIGGA Championship Greenkeeping Performance of the Year

Last night, three of our greenkeepers attended the BIGGA award ceremony whilst at the Greenkeeping show in Harrogate. We had been nominated along with two other clubs for the Championship Greenkeeping Performance of the Year award.

As some of you may already have seen, Harleyford won this prestigious award beating Clubs such as The Carolina Golf Club in the USA and Gullane Golf Club in Scotland. This is a fantastic achievement for Harleyford and proper recognition for all the hard work the greenkeepers put in to making our golf course one of the best around! After the award was presented Craig said:

“This is mad, I can’t believe it to be honest. When you look at who I was up against, I am really just a little short for words. I didn’t think we would win. The guys on my team were amazing and they’re a real credit to the golf club”.

Golf Industry Show in San Diego

Further to our success at the BIGGA awards our Golf Course Manager, Craig Earnshaw is one of an elite international group chosen to take part in a prestigious industry event in the US next month.

Craig Earnshaw is among a ten-strong delegation from BIGGA who is travelling Golf Industry Show in San Diego in February sponsored by the Bernhard Company.

The event, organised by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, brings together golf course superintendents, owners/operators, chief operating officers, architects, builders and equipment managers, as well as more than 6,000 buyers from over 60 countries.

After being selected from several applicants from across the country, Craig was successful after a stringent interview process to secure his place. Craig said: 

“This is a massive opportunity. To be picked to go to the biggest Golf industry show in the world is a fantastic feeling, it will be a great opportunity to network with the very best in the industry. I am so grateful of BIGGA and Bernhards company for selecting me”.

I think you will all agree that we are extremely lucky to have such a strong greenkeeping team under the leadership of Craig. In the past four years the course has gone from strength to strength, from moving into the Top 10 in Bucks, hosting the Euro-pro Tournament 2018 & 2019 and providing a fantastic course for our members and guests to play on all year round.

I’m sure you’ll join me in congratulating all the greenkeeping team for their hard work and we are all looking forward to another fantastic year to come!
