Amateur Success

We are pleased to report the success of two of our members in local, national, and international events!

Thalia Kirby started an impressive run of form at the Ladies Club Championship, which she won by 17 shots thanks to a course record 69 (-4) in round 2. Since then, Thalia has achieved local success at Sunningdale with a 3rd place finish in the Critchley Salver, and an impressive win at The Berkshire in the prestigious Astor Salvor where she finished -7 for 2 rounds. In her biggest event yet, she finished 5th at the St Rule Trophy in St Andrews, one of the strongest events in ladies’ amateur golf.

These results have propelled Thalia to a career best 373rd in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and has got her handicap down to +5! This week she is back in Scotland competing in the R&A Ladies British Amateur, where the winner gets invited to the Ladies British Open, The US Women’s Open, and the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, amongst other events. Good luck Thalia!

Taylor Paul has also had an excellent start to his season thanks to a win at the Buckinghamshire Men’s Scratch Open in April. Taylor followed this win with a brilliant 36th place finish at the Harleyford Europro where he shot rounds of 67 (-5), 70 (-2), 71 (-1) for a total of -8. Shooting 3 consecutive sub-par rounds is quite an achievement in such a big event, and Taylor made sure he did it in style with an eagle at the 17th and a birdie at the 18th in the last round! This result means Taylor is one of only a few amateurs to ever make multiple cuts on the EuroPro Tour. Taylor also extends his thanks to all the members who supported him during the week.
