Lockdown Week 6

Good Evening,

Another week in lockdown has passed. I hope that you are all feeling slightly more hopeful that the return of golf is not too far away now that the Government have achieved their first target of 15M vaccinations.

If I was writing this email yesterday, I would have told you all how dry the course was after several days of freezing and high winds, however after the deluge today, I am not sure that is the case. Now the temperatures have risen however, we are able to continue with jobs such as landscaping and painting.

The 6th bunker project is coming along well. This week we aim to begin revetting the turf for the back face of the bunker. This is a longer process as it is essential that it is applied correctly in order for the grass to take hold. The greenkeepers have also been repairing pathways including this section of 15th & 16th path:

I have also been speaking to James Doran-Webb this week who is working on his new 2021 projects. Whilst still in strict isolation in the Philippines, his bubble of helpers are cracking on with some incredible new ideas ready to be bought over to the UK for a delayed Chelsea flower show.

James has also put together this video of the exhibition at Harleyford in 2020.

Whilst during the winter, considerably less golf is played than in the summer, we understand how frustrating this absence of golf is for all our members. I would just like to once again, thank everyone for their continued support and understanding during this challenging time.

Every weekly update that passes is one closer to the return of golf. I hope you are all keeping well and hopefully see you back soon.

Stay Safe,

Jack Slade
General Manager
