Lockdown Update

Good Morning,

I am sure you were all have heard the good news following the Prime Minister's announcement that golf clubs may reopen on Thursday, 3rd December 2020.

On Thursday, the regional tier system is being updated, therefore towards the later part of this week, I will be updating members with the latest restrictions that are in place at Harleyford.

Golf Course

The greenkeepers have had another couple of busy weeks on the golf course in preparation for the return of golf. All of the tees have been scarified during lockdown another job that would have disrupted golf. A lot of time has also gone on leaf collection and due to the milder temperatures we have been experiencing lately, the growth levels are still unusually high. The greenkeepers have also been performing a lot of tree work on the golf course, including raising canopies and removing overhanging branches. However starting next Monday, they will be completely focussed on getting the golf course ready to play on Thursday.

Tee Time Bookings

The tee time booking system has been busy over the last few days. I would just like to remind members that they MUST book in all their playing partners at point of booking. If you are unable to do this, please book the tee time then email proshop@harleyfordgolf.co.uk with the names. Don't forget, anyone looking for a game can also email the Pro-shop to request to be added to another tee time.

Slow Play

Due to the initial demand for golf from members, the tee sheet, for the first couple of weeks, is going to be fairly packed out. For this reason it is essential that everyone maintains speed of play on the course. Please ensure you keep pace with the group in front and where possible maintain the suggested round times printed on the scorecards for a 4Ball.

We only have limited amount of daylight currently so it is essential that we get as many people round the course in a timely fashion. Please click here for an interesting article by Golf Monthly regarding slow play.

Driving Range

The driving range project is coming along well. We have managed to do the majority of the disruptive work during these past few weeks which means the driving range will remain open throughout the winter without disruption.

The tarmacking of the path was stage one and we hope to complete this project with all the new equipment by March 2021.

Lockdown Lesson 2

For those of you who enjoyed Jon's lockdown lesson 1, you are able to click here to watch the lockdown lesson 2.

Lastly, I am aware of some current issues with members handicap indices. This is an external issue with the new system and am in the process of trying to establish with the WHS what has happened.

Enjoy the rest of your week and keep safe.
