Safety Update & Road Closure

Dear Member,

The NHS competition is underway with £275.00 being raised on the first day alone! A few bits of news for you today:

Safety on the Course

The next two days are going to be extremely hot with temperatures set to be in 30's! Please be prepared and read the notes below about staying hydrated:

When to drink?

  • Drink about 500ml 2 -3 hours before your round.
  • Drink another 250ml 10-20 min just before the round.
  • Keep drinking during the round- sipping water on every tee is a good routine.
  • Re-hydration should continue after the round to completely restore any fluid losses incurred.

What to drink?

  • Water, flavoured water and sports drinks that are enriched with 6-8% of carbohydrates and electrolytes are extra beneficial.
  • Cool water is preferable over cold water.
  • Caffeinated and alcoholic drinks should be avoided as they cause dehydration.
  • Fizzy drinks should also be avoided as they cause stomach fullness thereby reducing fluid intake.

Follow these simple steps to heat-proof yourself on the golf course. And of course don’t forget sun cream, protective clothing, sun glasses and hats or visors.

Road Closure

Whilst I am yet to receive the final details, I can confirm that on Friday and/or Saturday there will be a road closure on the Henley Road (outside the golf club). Access to the estate will be maintained at all times but diversions will be put in place from either direction depending on whether they are working from the Harleyford towards Marlow side or the Harleyford towards Henley side.

They aim to complete the work in one day however it is very weather dependant. The work was originally scheduled for Thursday, however this has already been postponed due to the heat. If you are due to play on Friday or Saturday, please leave ample time to arrive for your tee time.

Government Announcement

Following the announcement from the Government this afternoon, we will be looking to reintroduce seating around the Clubhouse and a food offering from Saturday, 4th July 2020. More information to follow at my weekend update.

Should anyone have any questions, please let me know. Have a good evening.
